UEMC-Bina Puri confirms failure to obtain CCC

UEM Construction Sdn Bhd and Bina Puri Sdn Bhd have confirmed that they are yet to obtain the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) for the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) terminal building.

The joint-venture partners attributed the failure to unexpected issues that occurred during a follow-up inspection.

“The partners have discussed and are working with Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), the authorities, consultants and architects to rectify the matter and rectification work will commence immediately,” it said in a statement.

“Public safety is the main priority, thus we will ensure proper rectification works are diligently carried out. At the same time, UEMC-Bina Puri will work together with MAHB on the next course of action in regard to the issuance of the CCC and the commencement of Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer.”

Separately, MAHB revealed, in a Bursa Malaysia filing, that it has not yet received the CCC from UEMC-Bina Puri, which promised to hand it over by 31 January 2014.

Nonetheless, the airport operator noted that “all efforts are being taken to support UEMC-Bina Puri towards the completion of the terminal building to enable the opening of klia2 on May 2 2014.”
