Saipem wins offshore contract in Indonesia

Italian oil and gas industry contractor, Saipem, has inked an offshore contract in Indonesia for a total of $1.1bn.

Eni in Indonesia has awarded a consortium led by Saipem the engineering procurement construction and installation (EPCI) contract for a new build floating production unit (FPU) for the Jangkrik Complex Project development.

The consortium is formed by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and the joint venture between Saipem, Tripatra Engineers & Constructors and Chiyoda.

The project will be carried out by Saipem execution centre in Jakarta. The topsides will be built in Saipem’s Karimun Island Yard, while the hull will be built in HHI’s yard in Ulsan, to be delivered in just under three years.

“Asia Pacific represents an important and strategic area of development for Saipem, the company is currently involved in technically complex projects in the area related to various FLNG initiatives,” the company said in a statement.
